Ormat Pacific Inc is involved in large-scale geothermal infrastructure and construction projects throughout New Zealand. With employees working across multiple sites, they needed a simple way to capture employee time while supporting project-based operations.
What does Ormat use TimeFiler for?
Ormat primarily use TimeFiler for straightforward online timesheets to record hours worked and leave requests. It provides a simple, centralised process for employees to submit their time each month. TimeFiler also connects timesheet entries with ORMAT’s payroll processing, automating the steps in between.
What other aspects of a normal payroll process has TimeFiler replaced or streamlined?
Although requirements were simple, TimeFiler also streamlined several processes that had previously been handled manually, including:
- Capturing Mileage
- Capturing Time in Lieu
- Non payroll sourced managers i.e. overseas managers (approval workflows for managers based in Israel)
These customisations gave them the flexibility they needed without adding unnecessary complexity.
What problem was TimeFiler brought in to solve?
Before TimeFiler, employee time wasn't being captured digitally. Ormat wanted a straightforward online timesheet solution that integrated with the way they already worked, replacing paper-based processes with a system that was easier for employees and managers to use.
How easy was it to onboard?
The onboarding process was very straightforward. Because their workforce consisted largely of one employee group with simple timesheet requirements, there wasn't a lengthy scoping process or complex configuration. The implementation was completed quickly while still accommodating the few custom features they required.
How closely did Ormat work with the team at TimeFiler to engineer a solution?
The TimeFiler team worked closely with Ormat to understand requirements from the beginning. TimeFiler quickly identified that their setup was relatively simple and recommended only the configuration they actually needed, while still delivering the custom features that were important to their business.
How has TimeFiler changed the way Ormat operates?
TimeFiler has given Ormat a consistent process for recording time, submitting leave and approving employee hours. Managers can review and approve timesheets electronically, and payroll-related information is collected accurately before being processed.
What has resulted from these changes?
Ormat has reduced manual administration, improved visibility of employee time and simplified their weekly and monthly payroll preparation. Employees have a clearer process to follow, while managers spend less time chasing paper forms and approvals.
Have there been any additional ways TimeFiler has helped improve procedures?
The approval workflow has become much more efficient than previous paper-based processes. TimeFiler could accommodate to Ormat’s specific business requirements without requiring a large or expensive implementation project.
